Strawberry Chia Seed Jam

If you’re still buying strawberry jam… this is your sign to stop!
This Strawberry Chia Seed Jam comes together in under 10 minutes, uses just 5 ingredients, and tastes much better than anything from the store. also, there is zero canning required. You just simmer, mash, stir, and you have homemade jam. The chia seeds naturally thicken it up while adding a little boost of goodness, and the flavor is bright, fresh, and perfectly sweet. Spread it on toast, swirl it into yogurt, or eat it straight from the jar.

Directions

  1. Into a small saucepan add in all the ingredients except for the chia seeds.
  2. Bring the heat up to a low simmer and cook for 5 minutes, or until the strawberries have broken down.
  3. Use a potato mash to break the strawberries to your desired consistency.
  4. Remove the jam from the heat and pour in the chia seeds. Stir well and allow to cool before jarring.
  5. Enjoy on toast, yogurt, or on its own!

Tips for Success

  • Mash the strawberries to the texture you like before adding the chia seeds — you can't easily change the consistency once the chia starts thickening things up.
  • Let the jam cool completely before jarring; it continues to thicken as the chia seeds absorb liquid while cooling.

Storage & Serving

  • Store in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
  • This also freezes well in small portions for up to 3 months.

Yes — maple syrup works as a direct substitute if you'd rather use that.

How long does this jam keep?

Store in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
