Lox and Cream Cheese Matzo

Missing your bagel during Passover? This fixes it. Crispy matzo, creamy schmear, fresh lox, and all the toppings you love… it’s the ultimate Passover glow-up. This is great for breakfast, lunch, or an anytime nosh that actually makes matzo fun to eat. Who needs a bagel when you’ve got this? I listed the ingredients below but I didn’t give measurements or anything because we all like our bagels with different quantities and toppings.

Directions

  1. Spread the cream cheese carefully over the matzo so it doesn’t crack.
  2. Place all of your toppings on top of the cream cheese and enjoy!

Tips for Success

  • Spread the cream cheese gently and in small sections — matzo cracks easily under too much pressure.
  • Add toppings just before eating so the matzo stays crisp instead of softening under the moisture.

Storage & Serving

  • Best assembled and eaten immediately, since matzo loses its crunch quickly once topped.
  • Store any leftover toppings separately in the fridge and build fresh matzo each time.

Good to Know

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use regular crackers instead of matzo?

Yes, though matzo is traditional for Passover — any sturdy cracker works if you're not keeping to that tradition.

Can I make this ahead of time?

This is best assembled right before eating, since matzo loses its crunch quickly once topped.

Is this recipe kosher for Passover?

As long as your cream cheese, lox, and toppings are certified kosher for Passover, this fits the holiday's requirements.
