Apple Pancake Rings

These Apple Pancake Rings are one of the easiest fall treats you'll make all season, just apples, pancake mix, and a dip in honey. They come together in minutes and will become your new way to enjoy pancakes.

Directions

  1. Set a sauté pan on medium heat with avocado oil.
  2. Dip the apple slices into the pancake batter and place into the pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side.
  3. Serve up with honey, and enjoy!

Tips for Success

  • Slice the apples into even rings, about 1/4 inch thick. Too thin and they'll fall apart when you dip and flip them; too thick and the pancake coating cooks before the apple inside has a chance to soften.
  • Don't crowd the pan — cook in batches so each ring has room to fully coat and flip cleanly, and the oil stays hot enough to give you a golden crust instead of steaming the batter.

Storage & Serving

  • Best served warm, straight out of the pan, with the honey drizzled on top.
  • Leftovers keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
  • Reheat in a skillet or toaster oven to bring the crisp edges back — the microwave will leave them soggy.
  • These also work well finished with a dusting of cinnamon sugar instead of, or alongside, the honey.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a different apple variety?

Yes — any firm baking apple like Gala, Fuji, or Braeburn works well here. Just avoid softer varieties, since they tend to break down once sliced thin and dipped in batter.

Can I use homemade pancake batter instead of a mix?

Yes, any standard pourable pancake batter works in place of the boxed mix — just make sure it's not too thick to coat the apple rings evenly.

What's the best way to core and slice the apples into rings?

Use an apple corer to remove the center first, then slice the apple crosswise into rounds about 1/4 inch thick — that's what gives you the classic ring shape rather than flat slices.
